My Journey
I am currently working as a Health Coach. I am also a retired CRNA (nurse anesthetist) since 2022 following 44 years in surgery in central SC. I also owned and operated a medical spa for 20 years. I am fortunate to have a wonderful husband of 40 years with two amazing grown children, two incredible grandsons, and one very spoiled cat!
Having been completely entrenched in the western medical model for decades in my profession of anesthesia, I was at first very skeptical of more holistic approaches to health. However, after I began my medical spa, I quickly saw that the clients that actively pursued healthier lifestyles responded even better to any treatment or service I offered. At that point I began to shift my daily perspective towards embracing a higher state of wellness for myself.
However, though I regularly included many of those healthy habits over the years I found myself feeling very unwell. I had developed a chronic infection and an ever increasing dependency on antibiotics by the time I retired.
I hired a functional medicine doctor and a health coach in early 2022 to see if I could get answers and restore my health. After extensive testing (tests that traditionally trained physicians do not order), I found out I suffered from two high levels of toxic mold. I also found out that the particular mold toxins in my body not only made it more difficult to fight an infection but even worse, they were also toxic to the brain.
My mother had died of Alzheimer’s dementia in 2004 after a long battle of over 20 years. I knew after my challenge with mold and my family history that I wanted to be right in the middle of health coaching around this disease to keep my mind healthy and to help others do the same.
A functional medicine approach that seeks the root causes of chronic illness and offers solutions that fall out of the traditional medical model has strong merit and I feel has given me back the best version of myself. I am now detoxed from the mold and have been free of antibiotics for over a year now.
The Bredesen Protocol / ReCODE has seen an 84% improvement rate in their latest clinical trial. For people with subjective or mild cognitive impairment or early stage Alzheimer’s (and PreCODE for people that are at high risk for developing Alzheimer’s), there is now a real solution to regaining or maintaining optimal brain function. It was developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen, a neurologist with over 40 years of research in neurological disorders.
The Bredesen Protocol / ReCODE is a process of discovering your unique root causes, having a “cognoscopy” (including lab tests and cognitive assessments and generating a personalized ReCODE or PreCODE Report), working on what can be removed and optimizing with diet, lifestyle and supplementation. It can take around one year to get started on implementing the protocol and going through the process of updating labs (every six months) and assessments (monthly and every six months) to track your progress.
We will be the last generation to ever have to worry about Alzheimer’s dementia! It’s now optional! Click on the link above to schedule a time with me to answer any questions and see if working together on the ReCODE Program or the PreCODE Program may be the solution for you or a loved one.
As a ReCODE 2.0 Certified health coach, I look forward to taking this journey with you.
